知美，拾趣 —— 苏州美术馆美育展

Savoring Beauty, Gathering Joy (知美·拾趣) is a practice-based public art education project developed through collaboration with Suzhou Art Museum, exploring how immersive digital media can extend engagement with artworks beyond conventional modes of viewing. As part of the museum’s public education programme, the project introduced a VR-based painting and reinterpretation experience that enabled visitors to move from observing artworks to actively engaging with their visual qualities through creative practice. Through VR painting, participants could enter a three-dimensional creative environment to closely observe, reconstruct, and reinterpret exhibited artworks using virtual brushstrokes. This process positioned copying not simply as reproduction, but as a mode of active observation, reflection, and creative expression. The resulting VR works and their creative processes were subsequently presented within the museum exhibition, connecting immersive making, exhibition, and public participation.

The project demonstrates how immersive technologies can support accessible and participatory approaches to art education within public cultural spaces, creating new relationships between audiences, artworks, creative practice, and the museum environment. “Discovering Beauty through Play” was selected as one of ten Outstanding Public Education Projects in the 2025 National Art Museum Outstanding Project Selection organised by the Department of Arts, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China.
