Description
An IFB-HUB industry-engaged project examining the global manufacturing footprint and overseas production-base configuration of a domestic furniture manufacturer, using KUKA HOME as the industry case. The project evaluated alternative manufacturing locations through a structured multi-criteria decision-support framework incorporating logistics, cost, policy, infrastructure, workforce and strategic considerations. Dr Viet Linh Dang co-supervised the project and provided methodological and analytical guidance throughout the project development.
Key findings
The project developed a transparent, data-driven framework for comparing alternative overseas manufacturing locations and demonstrated how multi-criteria decision analysis can support global production-network decisions. The analysis highlighted important trade-offs among production cost, logistics proximity, policy risk, infrastructure capability and strategic market access.
