Description

This project examines peer learning in international architecture workshops in the digital age. It uses the City Scales workshops in Colombo, Barcelona and Shanghai as case studies. The research focuses on Generation Z students, our current cohorts, those born at the beginning of this century, and on their ways of learning in groups, through collaboration and through interaction with new digital and AI tools.

The project aims to study how students exchange knowledge, understand urban contexts that are new to them, and develop design ideas in multicultural groups within the City Scales workshop, which provides a shared learning environment. In this workshop, students and academics participate in the generation of knowledge through observation, discussion and design.

The research project will examine this working methodology and aims to identify patterns and contribute new methodological and pedagogical perspectives to architectural education, both within and beyond the City Scales project.
