Description
Building on the research outcomes generated in 2025 by XJTLU and Seoul National University for Suwon City, this project aims to clearly articulate the core values, objectives, and policy relevance of the Suwon-type Smart Inclusive Transition (SIT) framework of UN-Habitat, while advancing concrete strategies for performance dissemination and global knowledge exchange. The project consolidates empirical findings from Suwon to define SIT as a people-centred urban transition agenda that integrates digital innovation, social inclusion, and everyday quality of life, moving beyond technology-driven smart city narratives.
To amplify impact and policy uptake, the project develops a multi-layered dissemination strategy combining international visibility, comparative research, and mutual learning. Key outputs will be shared through global platforms such as the World Urban Forum, alongside structured international collaboration with leading overseas cities, particularly Liverpool. Through comparative case studies, the project establishes an inter-city learning framework that examines how different governance contexts, institutional capacities, and socio-spatial conditions shape smart and inclusive urban transitions.
By systematically comparing Suwon and international cases, the project generates transferable policy insights while remaining sensitive to local context. The findings will inform actionable policy implications for Suwon, including governance models, implementation pathways, and long-term development directions. Ultimately, the project positions Suwon not only as a local innovator but also as a global reference city for smart inclusive urban transitions, contributing to international debates and shared urban futures.
