Description
This interdisciplinary project proposes to discuss the global dimensions of food consumption by exploring how international trade, supply chains, and cultural influences shape what we eat and how different consumption habits impact our global environment. Through basic academic research, initial fieldwork, and media production, students will analyze the environmental and social impacts of food imports, exports, wrapping materials and explore local food alternatives. The aim is to situate current trends and existing policies in the global scenario and understand how food consumption habits and global supply chains contribute to climate and where there is potential for contributing to solutions. The project will include a short documentary film, case studies, and a collaboration with the XJTLU community garden to assess sustainable food practices and how to encourage more conscious consumption.
