Yiyi Kou is a PhD student in Urban Planning and Design. Her doctoral research focuses on deepening the understanding of colonial heritage interpretation and its educational potentials for public audiences, as well as reconsolidating the relation of the former colonizes and colonized countries. Using Shanghai French Concession as the case study, her work investigates the existing on-site heritage interpretation in French Concession and public’s learning experience of it.

Combining her background in tourism management with urban planning expertise, Yiyi is passionate about bridging heritage regeneration with tourism development and advancing them through interdisciplinary research and practical applications. Her broader research interests include heritage tourism, public education and urban regeneration.
