Shiyao Li

Shiyao Li is a Lab Technician at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), supporting the Academy of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology (AIAT). His work focuses on translating teaching and research requirements into practical laboratory and computing solutions.

His responsibilities span laboratory development, technical evaluation and procurement of specialist equipment, and equipment commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting. He also develops Linux workstation standards and management scripts to support shared computing environments.

He led the development and deployment of an online equipment lending application, refining it through user feedback and sharing it with other schools within the Laboratory and Technical Management Office. He also provides teaching support in lab sessions, helping students understand code and resolve technical problems.

In 2025, he received XJTLU’s Teaching Technician Award, part of the University’s Academic Excellence Awards. He holds an MSc in Financial Technology with Data Science from the University of Bristol and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Liverpool.
