Personal profile
Yili Wang has been an instructor of English language in the higher education sector for more than 15 years and he is currently delivering EAP modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with teaching quality being constantly highly rated according to the results in the university-wide Module Questionnaires. He has worked as the Lead internal moderator over the last 5 years in various modules and taken many different service roles such as new staff mentor, model lecturer observed by ALLs and MA TESOL students, tutor for PG continuing support, judge for ELTRP-ETIC Cup English Public Speaking Contest and examiner for postgraduate English entry test and etc..
Prior to joining the ELC at XJTLU in 2014, he was an MOE-accredited and award-winning lecturer in English Language and Literature, mainly teaching on modules of English majors and supervising undergraduate degree final projects/theses.
His research interests and expertise are at the interface of second language acquisition, English as lingua franca/World Englishes, pedagogical grammar, language planning in education, syntax and phonetics, language in English literature, academic translation, and TBLT, with a diverse array of published scholarly outputs including two books - a translation of an impactful English work into Chinese sponsored by Sichuan University and a co-edited English textbook funded by the Chengdu Municipal Bureau, a number of journal articles, chapters and conference proceedings as well as a provincial government-granted research project.
