Yibin Yu is a distinguished auditory artist and filmmaker. He earned his Master’s in Film Production with distinction from Daejin University in South Korea. He graduated from the Beijing Film Academy with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He was recognized for his academic and creative excellence during his studies, receiving multiple academy and advertising creativity awards.
Currently, Yibin serves as an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Film and Creative Technology (AFCT) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. His research focuses on the digital documentation and reconstruction of world cultural heritage sites, the application of virtual reality (VR) in film production, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on audiovisual language and narrative forms.
In the creative field, Yibin undertakes diverse roles as a director, producer, composer, and sound supervisor. He has contributed to a wide range of acclaimed films, including Season of Good Rain (South Korea), Return Ticket (winner of Best Original Screenplay at the 48th Golden Horse Awards), The Gardener (Iran), Wind Blast, Crimes of Passion, Freeze Frame (UK), and Genome Hazard (Japan).
His involvement in game projects spans globally renowned titles such as Final Fantasy, Jurassic World, Call of Duty, Ring Fit Adventure, Age of Empires, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Don't Starve. Additionally, he has contributed to the production of over a hundred commercials, showcasing his expertise and creativity across multiple disciplines.
