Personal profile
Yan is an Educational Developer at the Educational Development Unit. Her teaching career spans across China, the USA, and Canada since becoming a certified teacher in 2008. Her research interests include faculty development/teacher education, cross-cultural education, international student, and graduate student academic success.
Before joining XJTLU, Yan spent six years at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria in Canada, where she engaged in educational research, teaching, and education management. Her professional practice is characterized by a focus on quality assurance in higher education, curriculum renewal, pedagogy, and training design. During her tenure at the University of British Columbia, she led curriculum renewal projects and graduate program reviews.
At the University of Victoria, she was involved in three Canadian national research projects funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The courses she taught in Canada included Philosophy of Education, Research Methods in Education, and Responsible Conduct of Research.
