Xuechen Liu is an Assistant Professor at the School of AI and Advanced Computing, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Taicang, China. His research interests lie in audio security (DeepFake detection and analysis, replay detection) and speaker verification, as well as various other aspect of speech and language processing, such as recognition, separation, synthesis, and perception.

Xuechen has completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Eastern Finland, with joint funding from MULTISPEECH at Inria Nancy Grand Est. He subsequently worked as an R&D Engineer at Emotech LTD in the United Kingdom before starting PhD, and after PhD, as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Yamagishi Laboratory, National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan, where he continued his research in speech, audio, and deepfake-related technologies. He has contributed to research projects supported by SCITECO, the Academy of Finland, Google, JSPS CREST, and JST Acceleration Program. 

In addition to his research, Xuechen serves as a regular reviewer for leading venues in speech, audio, and machine learning, including ICASSP, Interspeech, IEEE (formerly IEEE/ACM) TASLP, ICLR, and ICML. He is also an active contributor to open research resources and community benchmarking efforts, including AISHELL-2, ASVspoof, and SpeechBrain.
