Xiangqing Liu is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Before joining XJTLU, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Padua (2024.01-2025.07). He holds a PhD in Economics (fully funded) and an MRes in Economics (fully funded) from the University of Glasgow and a bachelor's degree from Shandong University. During his PhD, he visited the University of Cambridge as a visiting PhD student.
Xiangqing's research interests span several topics within labour and population economics, including migration, education, health, household, and gender issues. His single-authored work has appeared in several internationally recognised journals such as China Economic Review and Applied Economics. His recent research is focused on the social integration and mental health of marginalised groups, as well as the role of demographic structure and cultural norms in household decision-making.
