Personal profile

Dr. Chen obtained his Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Central South University, China, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Newcastle, Australia in 2013. Dr Chen has broad research and industrial consulting experience relating to manufacturing and digital technologies in interdisciplinary fields. Dr Chens original research interest covered multi-phase flow with primary applications in pneumatic conveying industry. During his further employment with BHP Billiton and Bradken Resources, Dr Chen developed research interests in the mineral processing related engineering research. Dr Chens recent research areas also include advanced sensing and IIoT and their coupling to numerical modelling and machine learning. Dr Chen has also been involved with competitive government and industry funded research projects in Australia and China. He has published over 60 articles in internationally renowned journals and conference proceedings. Dr Chen also received a number of domestic and international awards.
