Personal profile

Dr. Sam Zare has over 25 years of international experience working across different countries, particularly within the higher education sector. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Future Education, specializing in the intersections of language education, identity, emotion, and educational technology.

His research investigates how language learning and use shape learners’ identities and psychological experiences, with a particular focus on the emotional and motivational dimensions of learning. He also explores young learners’ language development, especially in areas such as bilingualism and cross-linguistic influences on learning.

A complementary strand of his work examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and digital technologies on education, including their implications for pedagogy, learner psychology, and institutional practices. Within this area, he places special emphasis on digital literacy, both as a key competency for students and educators and as a foundation for effective engagement with AI-enhanced learning environments.

Dr. Zare’s research is situated within applied linguistics, educational psychology, and technology-enhanced learning, and aims to generate insights that are both theoretically rigorous and practically relevant. He welcomes MA/PhD candidates interested in projects on language education in technology-rich contexts, learner psychology and identity, young learners’ language development, and the role of AI and digital literacy in shaping educational futures.
