Dr Samuel Kwok, FCA(UK), FHEA, earned his doctorate in professional studies (Policy Management) from Middlesex University, London, UK.  His advisor was Dr Gertrude Shotte.  He created a new transdisciplinary path in practice-led research (PLR) for the development of branding narrative policies by creating the -  Policy Actors' Group research paradigm and the Role-based Narrative Policy Framework.  Dr Kwok's applied-research enterprise includes business cases and industry analysis reports.  He engages in educatonal research.  His edited books are collected by the libraries of Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, XJTLU and other renowned institutions.  Currently, Dr Kwok is a PhD external examiner for Alliance University, New Delhi, India.  He is the editor-in-chief of an international book project: Advancing Pedagogical Research Through Open Science (in progress).

Dr Kwok is a Big Four-trained UK Chartered Accountant.  His name is on the FCA Register in the UK as an FCA (UK).   He is an expert in Bullion Market and has served the Hong Kong Gold Exchange as a principal advisor for the 'Shenzhen-Hong Kong Gold Connect' project. His monograph 'Strategy of China Bullion Market Integration and its Financial Impact' was published by People's Daily Press, China.  Dr Kwok was the director of the MSc Professional Accounting programme from AY2018/19 to AY2023/24. From 2018 to 2019, he oversaw corporate training programmes for CRRC, Sodexo, Santoni, and other companies as the Academic Director of Executive Education.  Dr Kwok, is currently the Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting, IBSS.

Before joining IBSS in 2016, that inter alia, Dr Kwok served two Hong Kong-Listed Companies as CFO of China and General Manager of China, respectively.  He then opened his own consultancy firm, working for various government-industry projects.  Currently, Dr Kwok is the chair of audit committee of a company listed on the STAR board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Dr Kwok is the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award from the International Association of Accountants, UK in 2017.  He won the IBSS- Contribution to Education Research Award in 2021/22 & 2024/25.
