Rui Pei was born in 1993 in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China. He received dual Bachelor’s degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the University of Liverpool (First Class Honours) in 2015. In 2016, he obtained his Master’s degree (with Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded his Ph.D. in 2021 from the University of Liverpool. Both his undergraduate and doctoral studies were fully funded by scholarships
He is currently an assistant professor in Department of Communications and Networking, School of Advanced Technology, Xi'an jiaotong - Liverpool University. Prior to that, He was a Lecturer in the Department of Automation at the School of Information Science and Technology in Donghua University. Dr. Pei received support from the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities and the "Rising Star Sailing Program" under the Shanghai Talent Initiative. He is also a key collaborator on two National Natural Science Foundation projects.
Dr. Pei maintains extensive collaborative networks in both academia and industry. His academic collaborators include the University of Glasgow, King’s College London, and Shenzhen University. On the industrial side, he works closely with companies such as vivo and Yanfeng Visteon Automotive Electronics, among others. Dr. Pei is committed to student mentoring and career planning. He actively guides students in aligning their academic interests with career development, helping them build a clear professional trajectory. Under his supervision, students have successfully secured positions at leading enterprises such as Jiangnan Shipyard and BYD Auto, etc.
Teaching
To student who are interested in related research field,
Our research group provides scientific supervision and technical support in the fields of radio frequency circuits and antennas, flexible and wearable electronics (including smartphones, VR Headsets and glasses), radar-absorbing materials, intelligent metasurfaces, and the application of machine learning in electromagnetic material design. We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds who have a genuine interest in these areas to contact us and join our research activities.
Dr. Pei actively supports student teams participating in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM). He was a recipient of the Meritorious Winner Award during his own participation, and in 2023, he guided his students to win the prestigious Finalist Award. Students with an interest in mathematical modeling are welcome to reach out via email.
