Qiwei Zhang has over 15 years of English teaching experience in Higher Education. Before joining XJTLU in 2014, she taught at Coventry University, UK and SIAS International University, China. She is passionate about applying innovative teaching methods including research-led and technology-enhanced teaching, communicative, and task-based language teaching to boost student engagement and improve student learning experience.
She believes that developing long-term soft skills, such as interpersonal and intercultural communication, problem solving, leadership, teamwork, confidence building and adaptability in the AI era are equally vital in a language classroom.
Qiwei has experience leading large-scale EAP modules, managing cohorts of over 4000 students and 90 teachers. She currently serves as Head of the English Language Center in the Global Cultures and Language Hub overseeing the operation of the center.
