Personal profile

Dr. Qinglei Bu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics at the School of Advanced Technology, where he serves as the Programme Director for the BEng Mechatronics and Robotic Systems (UMRS). He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a member of both IEEE and IET.

Dr. Bu's research interests lie in mechatronics product design and renewable power conversion systems. His work has been featured in prestigious journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and the IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification. In recognition of his expertise, he serves on the editorial board of the SCI-indexed journal Frontiers in Energy Research and is a regular reviewer for several high-impact SCI journals, including IEEE TIE, TTE, TPE, and JESTPE. Dr. Bu has also contributed to the academic community by serving as a Session Chair at IEEE IPEC-ECCE Asia 2022 and as a Co-Session Chair for IEEE ICAC 2024.

Since 2022, he has led student teams as the first supervisor, achieving good results with 12 provincial-level and 7 national-level awards. His dedication to mentorship has earned him the "Outstanding Supervisor of Jiangsu Province" award in both 2024 and 2025.
