Paul Denison is a Design Historian with special interests in the history, theory and methods of industrial and product design. He has been a teacher for 28 years, and is passionate about working in Chinese educational contexts.Paul graduated from the celebrated History of Design programme at the Royal College of Art and Victoria and Albert Museum. Here he developed his knowledge and understanding of the decorative arts, of design theory, and industrial design.Paul has mostly worked with industrial design students to help them understand the context of their discipline. His intimate knowledge of designed objects, glass, ceramics, furniture, jewellery and vehicles, and his love of design writing, is always part of his conversations with students.Pauls experience of working with Chinese students goes back to 2010. In 2018 he moved to Shanghai to become Academic Director of a small design school. Now at XJTLU, he is excited about being able to bring his research interests in speculative and narrative design to his Chinese cohorts, and to develop his own design and writing responses to this field.
