Nuria Benavent-Esteve (FHEA) is a passionate instructional designer and education specialist with a track record in learning product lifecycle management and leveraging innovative technologies to enhance learning in diverse cultural contexts. She is highly skilled in stakeholder collaboration, data-driven decision-making and using edtech innovations to deliver high-impact, multi-format learning solutions. With over a decade of experience in instructional design and teaching, Nuria's career has spanned diverse educational settings. Before joining XJTLU, she was a Senior Learning Designer at Imperial College Business School and an Adjunct Professor in the MA in Education and Technology at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). Her journey also includes a role as a Learning Technologist at BIMM University, where she helped establish the Digital Education department, and a career as a foreign language teacher across Spain and the UK.
She has spearheaded numerous projects integrating innovative technologies like AI, XR and simulations to create scalable and engaging learning experiences. She managed a portfolio of learning solutions for 16 colleges across three countries. Her dedication to fostering a culture of innovation extends to faculty development, where she has designed and delivered training programmes to empower educators to integrate digital tools and innovative methodologies into their teaching.
She holds an MA in Education and Technology with a specialization in Learning Design, as well as an MA in Education/Teaching, for which she was awarded an MA Extraordinary Award in Academic Excellence from Universitat de Valencia. She has a BA in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation, which she completed between the Universitat the Valencia and the Université Paris-Sorbonne. Outside of university, Nuria also pursued studies in Music and holds a Professional Degree of Music Studies by a Spanish conservatoire.
Nuria is particularly interested in the intersection of innovative technology and pedagogy, and in making education inclusive, accessible and engaging. Her areas of focus include leveraging AI and XR to enhance learning experiences, improving inclusivity and accessibility through e-learning, and exploring the power of storytelling and gamification as educational strategies. She is passionate about designing learning solutions that are intuitive and student-centred, while also based on cognitive principles to better align with how people think and learn. Ultimately, her passion lies in using education as a catalyst for positive change, with a special focus on fostering intercultural understanding and communication.
