Research interests

My research delves into a very important topic such as social values and participation in the conservation of built heritage and heritage management in rural areas in China. Through the two case studies of Zhujiajiao and Tongli water towns in the Jiangnan region of China, the research compares the different levels of participatory design and community engagement in the heritage conservation planning process, and also analyzes the tourism in connection to the place attachment for the dynamics of value process. The two cases, Zhujiajiao and Tongli, present a very specific context halfway between the rural and the metropolitan in the Jiangnan area of China. The research is original as it studies:

- The policy issues related to participation,

- The theoretical foundations of social value,

- The testimonies from related stakeholders.
