Ms. Mengqi Hu is currently a language lecturer of School of Languages at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). Before coming to XJTLUs ELC, she was an English teacher in the higher education. Ms. Hu obtained her Master from the University of Durham, Translation Studies. She has taught a range of courses on Business English, English Proficiency, Intercultural Communications, EAP for Year 1 and Year 2 programmes and has supported Final Year Project, departmental modules lectures for more than 10 years.
Research interests
She is interested in exploring student engagement and applying innovative uses of technology in both teaching and research. She believes that interactive and immersive VR technologies that can engage students with authentic learning environments will enhance both digital literacy and learning autonomy for all stakeholders.

- Taught SMO106 Seminar class for Business School stage 2 students.
- Taught FYP Workshops for Business School stage 4 students.
- Provided consultation for Business School PG students and the BUS303 FYP project.
- Taught EAP for Year 1 Built Environment, Year 2 EAP for Design Division, Year 1 Foundation EAP, Year 1 LAN005 and LAN006 about intercultural communications. Provided Final Year Project consultation for Design school’s ARC306, ARC406 and ARC408 modules, delivered departmental collaboration lectures to support ARC110 and ARC107 writing assessment.
- Taught 7 weeks of Pre-sessional English in 2023 as a full-time Reading and Writing teacher.
