LIM Lee Wei is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Suzhou Municipal Key Laboratory of Neurobiology and Cell Signaling at XJTLU. He also holds the titles of “Honorary Full Professor of Neuroscience” at Maastricht University and Istanbul Atlas University, and “Guest Professor” at Hubei University of Medicine. He holds a number of distinguished academic appointments, including Executive Committee Member of the UNESCO Anti-Aging and Disease Prevention, Secretary of the Deep Brain Stimulation Society, Life Member and Academician of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, and Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. Upon completing his MD, Master’s, and PhD degrees, Dr. Lim held prestigious research fellowships (including the Marie Curie Fellowship, Kootstra Top-Talent Fellowship and the Lee Kuan Yew Research Fellowship) for several years at Maastricht University, the University of Oxford, and Nanyang Technological University.
Dr. Lim’s research centers on translational neuroscience, focusing on innovative neuromodulation and psychopharmacological treatments for psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases. He has secured 41+ research grants (totalling ~RMB 27.2 million) as a principal or co-investigator from global funding bodies. As a primary supervisor, he has mentored 11 PhD, 29 master’s, and 53 undergraduate students on final-year research projects and theses. He has published 160 peer-reviewed papers (including work in Nature Communications, Aging and Disease, and Brain Stimulation) and holds one U.S. patent. His research has over 6,300 citations and an H-index of 40 on Google Scholar. His distinguished achievements have earned him prestigious honours, including the “Ten Outstanding Young Malaysian Award (Science and Technology Category)” and the “Ten Malaysian Scientists Whose Research is Making the World a Better Place Award”.

Research Interests: Clinical & preclinical research in neurological and psychiatric diseases.
Neuromodulation: DBS (electrical/nanoparticle/optogenetic), VNS, TMS, & tDCS.
Neuropsychopharmacology: Hericium erinaceus, Ganoderma lucidum, & Melatonin.
Disease models: Depression, PD, AD, Aging & Hepatocellular Carcinoma models.
