Jie Zhang is an Associate Professor in Accounting at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). She joined XJTLU in 2013. She holds a PhD in Economics from Lancaster University. In addition to her academic work, she serves as Vice President of the Suzhou International Taxation Research Association.
Her research interests include market microstructure, decision making under uncertainty, ESG, corporate finance, corporate governance, and business education research. She has published in a range of international journals, including Expert Systems with Applications, Computers in Industry, Economics Letters, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, and International Review of Financial Analysis. She leads a Youth Project of the Ministry of Education in Humanities and Social Sciences and has led a number of projects funded by the Research Development Fund (RDF).
Dr. Zhang teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate modules in accounting and finance and is currently the module leader for Accounting Analytics. Her teaching practice focuses on research-led learning, assessment innovation, collaborative learning, and AI-enabled education. She has shared her teaching practices through workshops and invited talks, and has published educational practice work in Times Higher Education (THE) Campus and the Centre for Educational Innovation and Excellence (CEIE). She has also led multiple projects funded by the Teaching Development Fund (TDF). Her contributions to teaching have been recognised through several awards, including Outstanding Individual in Education and Teaching from the Suzhou Municipal Education Bureau, the XJTLU Honours Award, and the IBSS Outstanding Teacher Award.
