Dr. Hengyan Liu is an Assistant Professor in the School of AI and advanced computing (AIAC) of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). He holds a Doctoral and Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. Hengyan has extensive research and project experience, having served as a Research Assistant at Imperial College London for two years and as a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University for one year, where he led the UKRI project.
Hengyan’s research expertise spans several areas including deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, Large Language Models, multimodal fusion, deep unrolling algorithms, and convex optimization. He has authored several top-tier publications in both conferences and journals and was awarded the 2023 SMC-IoT Best Paper Award as the first author. Hengyan also been invited to serve as the TPC for IEEE ICCCN 2024, work shop chair of ISITSC 2024 and workshop chair of IEEE ICCCN 2025.
