Dr. Haiyang Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Jilin University and a Ph.D. from the University of Limerick, where she specialized in Recommender Systems with full scholarship. Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Zhang served as a Research Associate at the University of Sheffield from 2018 to 2021, where she participate in HEFCE (Institude of coding) and NIHR (Automatically mapping and assessing inequalities in public health research) projects.
Dr. Zhang’s current research focuses on knowledge discovery, with a particular emphasis on applications in biomedical document analysis and cross-modal information retrieval. To date, she has (co-)authored over 40 publications in prestigious conferences and journals. She served as program chair for industrial track WWW 2023 and ECAI 2024 and co-organised special sessions in ICVR 2023, IEEE INDIN 2024, and Asian MM 2024, etc.
