Dr. Gengyang Tu is an Assistant Professor in Economics whose research connects economic theory with real-world challenges in sustainability, health, technology adoption, and social inequality.

He received his PhD in Economics from AgroParisTech, University of Paris-Saclay in France. He has developed an international research profile through academic visits to the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and Umeå University in northern Sweden. 

Before joining XJTLU, he built a strong international academic profile through postdoctoral and open-ended research appointments at Grenoble School of Management in France, the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, and the University of Bretagne-Loire in France. 
He remains connected with the University of Exeter as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow.

Dr. Tu has extensive experience contributing to major European research initiatives, including projects funded under Horizon 2020 and the European Regional Development Fund. He has led work packages and played key roles in interdisciplinary projects addressing sustainability, innovation, and public policy.

His research examines how individuals, households, and organisations respond to economic, technological, and environmental change. Key areas of interest include the adoption of energy-efficient and eHealth technologies, the relationship between socioeconomic inequalities and health outcomes, and the links between residential choices and ecosystem services. More recently, his work has expanded to corporate social responsibility, exploring how CSR intersects with sustainable development, organisational behaviour, and economic decision-making.

Dr. Tu’s research has been published in leading international journals, including Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Ecological Economics, and Energy Economics. Through empirically grounded analysis, his work offers valuable insights for sustainability economics, innovation policy, and evidence-based decision-making.
