Dongyao Jia is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Communications and Networking, XJTLU, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland. He received the BEng in Automation from Harbin Engineering University, China in 1998, and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the City University of Hong Kong in 2014. Prior to joining XJTLU, he worked as a Research Fellow in the School of Civil Engineering, the University of Queensland, Australia, from 2018 to 2021, and the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, the UK from 2015 to 2018, respectively. He holds a ten-year working experience in the telecom industry in China, when he was promoted to Senior Engineer (2008). He is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is also a Member of IEEE, ACM, and CCF. He was named in the list of 2024 Stanford top 2% scientists (全球前2%顶尖科学家), and awarded 2024 "Gusu Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Talents“ (姑苏创新领军人才) Programme.
His primary research is to apply advanced ICT technologies to the area of connected and automated driving and intelligent transport systems, specifically focusing on vehicular networks, intelligent traffic flow modeling and cooperative driving, big-data analytics in transport, and digital-twin-enabled transportation. In the past few years, he has been actively involved as the PI or co-PI in several research projects funded by National Science Foundation of China, EU H2020, etc. Most of these works have been widely published in prestigious journals or conferences, e.g. IEEE TITS, TVT, Commun. Surveys Tuts., Transportation Research Part B/C, IEEE INFOCOM, etc. More publications can be found via Google scholar and Researchgate
Ph.D. student or RA opportunities: I am always looking for self-motivated students who are interested in the areas of intelligent transportation, connected and autonomous driving, etc. If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to send your CV.
