Dane Taylor is an award-winning sound engineer and music producer from Cape Town, South Africa, with extensive experience across the music, film, and television industries. He has worked on projects for BMW, Audi, Virgin, Red Bull, Puma, Vice, and The Olympics Channel, as well as numerous short films and documentaries.
Over the past decade, Dane has held a range of professional roles, including location sound recordist, mixing engineer, post-production sound designer, and sound supervisor. He previously operated a commercial recording and post-production studio, serving both local and international clients.
Dane holds an MSc in Music Production from Berklee College of Music (USA), where he was awarded a bursary for exceptional work, and he is a certified AVID Pro Tools instructor. As a lecturer, he integrates real-world industry practice with creative and technical training in sound for screen media, and he has been instrumental in supporting the careers of his students.
Driven by a deep appreciation for the emotional and psychological impact of sound, Dane is especially interested in how audio can shape perception, connect audiences to story, and evoke powerful emotional responses. Outside the classroom, he remains active in the professional audio industry and pursues personal interests in sport, wellness, and outdoor activities.
