Personal profile

Personal profile

Chee Shen Lim received dual-PhD degrees in 2013 from University of Malaya (Malaysia) and Liverpool John Moores University (UK). He was a Research Scientist with the Experimental Power Grid Centre of the Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR; 新加坡科技研究局), Singapore, before joining the University of Southampton Malaysia Campus (南安普顿大学东南亚分校) as an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where he served as the EEE deputy head of program/department. He is the fellow of HEA, associate fellow of AAET, associate Editor for the IET Electric Power Applications Journal, IEEE senior member, and Chartered Engineer (CEng). He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020/21 and moved to XJTLU in Nov21. He has been serving as the Programme Director of BEng Electrical Engineering until now.

His research interests lie in the intersection of power electronics, control, energy, and intelligent algorithms. He has been working on fundamental research related to industries of electric transportation, multi-motor and multiphase machine drives, power grid controls, and microgrids.

He is continually seeking exceptional PhD candidates to join him in conducting high-quality and rigorous research in the broad areas of smart grids, power electronics, electric motor drives, and artificial intelligence at SAT's Smart Energy Conversion Laboratory. If students are interested in this subject area, Year 3 students may get in touch at cheeshen.lim@xjtlu.edu.cn.
