Personal profile

Dr. Antony Kam joined the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Science at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University as an Assistant Professor in 2023. He graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree (2010) and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy (2015) from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sydney, Australia, focusing on natural product pharmacology. After graduation, he was appointed first as a Research Fellow, and later, promoted to Senior Research Fellow, at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, under the supervision of a world-renowned peptide chemist, Professor James P. Tam (2014-2023).

Dr. Kam's research interests center around peptide/protein drug discovery and translational research for applications in precision medicine, cosmeceuticals, theranostic, and food science. Since 2010, Dr. Kam has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in well-recognized journals such as Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B, Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Frontiers in Plant Sciences. He also holds two US and China national phase patent applications related to the discovery of hyperstable epidermal growth factor receptor agonists for wound healing, cosmetics, and cellular agriculture applications.

Led by Dr. Antony Kam (Department of Biological Sciences) and Dr. Shining Loo (Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy) at Xi'an JiaoTong Liverpool University, XPad (XJTLU Peptide and Drug) is a collaborative research group at the forefront of peptide-based technologies. We leverage our expertise in molecular pharmacologysynthetic biology, and chemical biology to develop innovative solutions for:

  • Therapeutics: Designing next-generation drugs with targeted precision to combat various diseases.

  • Diagnostics: Creating highly accurate and personalized medical tests for early disease detection and personalized treatment.

  • Biomaterials: Engineering advanced materials for tissue regeneration and repair, promoting healing and improving lives.

  • Drug Delivery Systems: Revolutionizing how therapeutics are delivered safely and effectively, maximizing their impact.

自2010年以来,Kam 博士在《美国化学会志》(Journal of the American Chemical Society)、《德国应用化学》(Angewandte Chemie)、《药物化学杂志》(Journal of Medicinal Chemistry)、《生物化学杂志》(Journal of Biological Chemistry)、《药学学报》英文版 (Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B)、《药理学前沿》(Frontiers in Pharmacology) 和《植物科学前沿》(Frontiers in Plant Sciences) 等国际知名学术期刊上发表了40多篇经同行评审的学术论文。
