Activity: Research visit

Description

This research visit was structured around two interconnected objectives.

First, I resumed work on a joint paper initiated during Professor Bargigli’s 2024 visit to XJTLU. This work aims to establish a rigorous framework for identifying nations exerting significant global economic influence in contemporary contexts.

Second, I initiated a critical study interrogating the theoretical and empirical foundations of “The China Syndrome: Local Labor Market Effects of Import Competition in the United States” (Autor, Dorn, & Hanson, American Economic Review, 2013).

During the visit, I gave two structured presentations. On 17 June 2025, I delivered a keynote lecture titled “Understanding High-Quality Economic Development in China” to doctoral students at the University of Florence.

Additionally, I presented a seminar entitled “From China to the World and Back: Absorptive Capacity and Reverse Technology Spillovers’ Impact on Carbon Emissions” to faculty and doctoral researchers.

These activities have not only disseminated research insights but also deepened institutional collaboration under the existing cooperation agreement, laying the groundwork for future joint initiatives and student exchanges between our universities.
