This workshop is delivered by Prof. John Sturzaker, reviewing the accreditation and membership processes of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), and explore how the RTPI can help you progress your career. We will discuss how the RTPI works to accredit planning schools around the world, through its Effective Planning School criteria, and how those schools can show they are meeting the RTPI’s learning outcomes. We will then address the question of RTPI membership, including how the different routes work in practice, and how different forms of experience and expertise can map against the competencies which all members need to demonstrate. Finally, the careers support offered by the RTPI will be outlined.
