The Actuality of Beauty Opportunities for urban regeneration between Italy and contemporary China.

The lecture was delivered within the prestigious international framework of Italian Design Day (IDD) – an official initiative endorsed by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and leading cultural institutions in the field of Italian design. As Director of the Sino-Italian Urban Regeneration Hub (SIURH) research unit, I had the honor of presenting the talk in the presence of distinguished attendees, including the Italian Consul General, institutional authorities, the Vice Dean of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) Faculty, faculty members and scholars from prominent Chinese and international academic institutions, as well as a select audience of industry leaders and esteemed guests.

The presentation explored the theme of urban regeneration through the lens of Beauty as a qualitative catalyst for enhancing life and communities – a concept that bridges Italian and Chinese cultural philosophies. This interdisciplinary dialogue emphasized shared values in design innovation, sustainability, and the pursuit of harmonious urban ecosystems, fostering cross-cultural exchange between the two traditions.
