Description

The Living Water 2025 International Workshop, jointly organized by Kasetsart University and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, is the second edition of this collaborative series, following the inaugural workshop held in Bangkok. This year’s workshop investigates canal environments through a transcalar lens, moving between the scale of everyday interactions, ecological systems, and broader territorial imaginaries.

Students engage in situated design research that is both spatial and critical, connecting the material realities of canal life with the invisible infrastructures, social practices, and political ecologies that shape them. By linking design investigation with lived practices and environmental processes, the workshop fosters an expanded understanding of canals as complex socio-ecological spaces.
