Living Shelters: Design and Built Workshop

Description

The Department of Architecture at XJTLU Design School is organising a hands-on workshop for students to design and build a nature-inspired pavilion. Over seven days, participants will explore how nature’s genius—from roots to branches and leaves—can guide sustainable design. Using eco-friendly materials (like recycled fabrics or biodegradable composites) and digital tools (augmented reality), students will create an installation pavilion that blends innovation with environmental harmony.
This workshop is more than a technical exercise; it’s a philosophical shift toward seeing design as part of nature, not separate from it. The final structure will serve as both a public art installation and a testament to sustainable practices—inviting visitors to engage with its form and story.
