The Italian Design Icons (IDI) Shanghai 2024 – 9th Edition was a three-day international exhibition celebrating the excellence of Made in Italy design, combining an exhibition with 16 bilingual workshops and talks led by industry experts. Organized by Eastant with the support of Italian institutions, the event gathered iconic brands across automotive, fashion, industrial design, and lifestyle sectors.

For several years, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) through the Department of Architecture first and from this year the Design School has been an active academic partner of IDI, contributing through student-centered workshops and public talks. These collaborations, coordinated by Silvia Albano as the main academic lead for this edition, have provided students with a unique opportunity to engage directly with design professionals and global companies. IDI 2024 attracted over 9,000 visitors and involved not only XJTLU but also other Chinese and international universities, fostering cross-institutional dialogue and reinforcing the event’s impact as a cultural and educational platform
