The development of digitalization caused an identity shift for the contemporary museum, whereas the multimedia interactive strategy is becoming significant for museum experiences. This research focused on the potential connection between multimedia interactive strategy and museum design. By selecting Suzhou Museum and Suzhou Museum West, this research applies case study and field survey, creates the visit experience containing multimedia interactive devices by virtual environment technology, based on Ching’s space typology theory of space ratio, geometry, opening, and device arrangement. It is founded that the time and appliance scale cause the lack of architectural guidance of multimedia interactive strategy in the museum. In addition, the distribution of devices has a significant connection with space function. Moreover, space ratio has the most substantial impact on the experience of multimedia interactive devices, next following geometry, device arrangement, and opening. The research indicates that multimedia interactive devices have become the new factors of contemporary museum design, while it is composing the display interface and upload terminal of museum digital archive in terms of knowledge and driving museum towards the immersive, integrated space design in terms of experience.Period | Jul 2022 |
