Emerging Global Initiatives for Sustainable Cities: A Digital Twin Approach to Urban Retrofit in Zambia

Activity: SupervisionPhD Supervision

Description

Rapid urban growth in many African cities has affected the infrastructure and environment. This project explores how digital twins, which are virtual models of real places, can help improve city design and sustainability with Lusaka, Zambia as a case.
By combining local data and expert input, the study will simulate changes to energy use, green space, and climate resilience. The results will inform better urban planning and serve as a model for other fast-growing regions. The research also supports global goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals, the African Union Agenda 2063, and China’s Belt and Road Initiative, all aimed at sustainable urban development.
