Design Intelligence after the Prompt: Human-AI Co-Agency for Architectural and Urban Futures

Artificial intelligence most significant impact may lie beyond prompt-based generation. This talk explores design intelligence as an emerging ecology of human-AI co-agency, where designers work with intelligent systems, digital twins, immersive environments, data-rich urban models, and generative agents to imagine, test, and transform future spatial conditions.
Drawing on research across digital architecture, extended realities, AI-supported workflows, heritage interpretation, and intelligent urban systems, the talk argues that the future of design will not be defined by automation alone. Instead, it will depend on how designers shape meaningful relationships between computation, material practice, cultural memory, environmental responsibility, and human judgement.
AI is postioned as both a creative collaborator and a critical design medium. It discusses how intelligent systems can support spatial exploration, urban renewal, heritage reactivation, and future-oriented learning, while also raising questions of authorship, agency, and design responsibility.
