Description

Guest Lecture n.4: Inclusivity in Design Disciplines
Dr. LINQING STEEVE LEE - President of the Suzhou Accessibility Development Promotion Association - Suzhou
This session follows an experiential inclusivity activity developed for
DES301 Professional Practice, in which students will work in groups across campus while simulating different physical impairments and documenting barriers, spatial limitations, and accessibility challenges encountered along the route.
The activity is designed to help students reflect critically on inclusivity not as an abstract principle, but as a lived spatial, social, and professional condition.
Following the activity, Dr. Linging Steve Lee will introduce the work of the Suzhou Accessibility Development Promotion Association and share insights from years of advocacy, research, and practical action promoting more accessible and inclusive environments in Suzhou. As President of the Association, he will discuss how accessibility can be advanced through public participation, professional responsibility, and long-term commitment across society.
This concluding talk will connect students' field observations with a wider professional and social perspective, encouraging them to understand accessibility and inclusivity as fundamental dimensions of responsible design practice.
