Description
During design process, architects have to deal with the context and the construction logic simultaneously. Context of any kind, has its own hidden structure because of the regulation of evolution. Structure on the other hand, has its cultural identity which can be inherited, at least it was the case. The two hence embody each other. Personal cognition and perception is another dimension that turns the design process even more complicated as a black box. Using built works of Gebie Architects, the lecture tries to clarify the balance within these dynamic norms and explore a methodology between the autonomy and the projective of architecture.Wang Bin is chief architect of Suzhou Gebie Architects and visiting director of Tongji University.
