Description

The lecture aims to provide students with analytical and critical tools for the Central Belt project.
It will deal with the architectural and urban relations between the "heart of the city" and the urban settlement of Pujiang, both through the relationship with the Ancestors that in history represent the premises of its tectonic, morphological and use foundation, and through the comparison with some Precursors - works and urban projects - developed in the experience of Vitorio Gregoti's project, as well as with some Coevals case studies.

The subsequent Epigones will be briefly recalled, which in the Gregoti & Asociatistudio's history represent a tempt store-elaborate Pujiang's legacy. In each of these case-studies, the settlement foundation of the Central Belt is applied through new variants elaborated on the basis of dialogue with the conditions of the most diverse physical-geographical and cultural contexts.

The idea of criticaly reworking the Central Belt project as the founding principle of the new city of Pujiang is based on the method of critical modification of the existing. It coincides with the passion for the present, which always has to be at the basis of every thought of form, i.e. the very task of architecture for the foundation of every new hum an settlement
