Can AI Make Us Behave Sustainably Exploring Future Time Orientation and Novelty Perception Mechanisms

Activity: Talk or presentationPresentation at conference/workshop/seminar

Description

This proposal aims to investigate the relationship between AI interactions and consumer pro-environmental behaviors. As AI services become more visible on many occasions with the aim of improving human society, it is important to explore whether AI-human interaction can shift consumers to behave in a more environmentally friendly way. Two potential underlying mechanisms can explain how AI interaction leads to pro-environmental behaviors: novelty perception and future time orientation. We hypothesize that AI interaction leads to pro-environmental behavior through novelty perception and future time orientation, while anthropomorphism attenuates the effects. We plan to use secondary data and a series of experiments to test our hypotheses and boundary conditions.
