This project explores the impact of multiple directorships on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in listed companies on the Chinese A-Shares Market. Drawing data from a sample of 4598 firms, we employ regression analysis to analyze the relationship between multiple directorships and ESG performance. Controlling for various factors, our findings reveal significant positive effects of multiple directorships on three ESG component scores as well as ESG comprehensive score. Our research contributes to the understanding of the role of multiple directorships in enhancing ESG performance. These findings highlight the importance of multiple directorships in driving sustainable practices within listed companies and provide a suggestion that companies should consider multiple directorships as part of their ESG strategy to achieve long-term sustainable success.
