Description
This conference presentation explores Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) as a gender-transformative practice for cultivating inner peace, emotional wellbeing, and agency in fragile educational contexts in Nepal. It considers how gendered social expectations shape girls’ emotional experiences and opportunities for self-expression, and examines the potential of SEL to create spaces in which learners can recognise and articulate emotions, develop relational capacities, and strengthen their sense of agency. By positioning inner peace not simply as an individual psychological outcome but as connected to gender, relationships, and wider social conditions, the presentation highlights the potential of SEL to contribute to more equitable and emotionally supportive educational environments.
