Personal profile

Wenquan Li is an Assistant Professor in Finance at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). He earned his PhD in Finance from The University of Queensland (UQ). Wenquan’s primary research interests include climate and environmental finance, household finance, and behavioral finance. His recent working papers also focus on corporate bonds and mergers & acquisitions.

His papers have been presented at prestigious finance conferences, including the AFA, FIRN, FMA, EFMA, AsianFA, CAFM, and NZFM, among others. Multiple studies have also been featured on The FinReg Blog of the Duke Financial Economics Center at Duke University. Wenquan’s papers have received R&Rs from high-quality journals, such as British Accounting Review and Journal of Financial Research. His pre-PhD research is published in International Journal of Finance & Economics. He was awarded the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Higher Degree by Research Theses at UQ in 2024.

Wenquan serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for several high-quality journals and conferences, such as British Accounting Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, American Accounting Association Annual Meeting, and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money. He has supervised honours students at UQ, and his students’ theses received full grades in the examinations.

Moreover, Wenquan has extensive experience in entrepreneurship projects and competitions. He is also an alumnus of the Young Leaders Program in FinTech Research at Ant Group (Alibaba).
