Description
Abstract: This paper aims to propose holistic and differentiated strategies for the renewal oflivable environments for the elderly by exploring the characteristics, construction
conditions, and problems of the elderly in different types of old communities. Against
the background of the continuous growth of the elderly population, and with stock
planning emerging as the predominant method in contemporary urban planning
systems, the revitalization of existing communities to be aging friendly has garnered
escalating attention. Conducting a thorough literature review, the research underscores
a gap in the current discourse on age friendly environment planning in China,
particularly the dearth of exploration into the distinctive construction nuances of age
friendly environments in different community types. Therefore, this study evaluates
the aging friendly situation in different types of sample communities through a
community level evaluation system for age friendly environments. adopting a
combination of subjective and objective evaluations. Employing a blend of subjective
and objective evaluations, the research proposes a differentiated strategy for age
friendly retrofitting in diverse types of old communities based on the evaluation
results.
