Microplastic pollution in surface water has become a rising environmental problem that has the potential to harm human health. Suzhou has a large number of rivers and lakes, with a total water area of 3607 km2. However, Suzhou's water quality is deteriorating as a result of rising population density and rapid expansion of industry, agriculture, and aquaculture, which has a direct impact on economic development and public health. As a result, the goal of this study is to look into the spatial and temporal distribution of plasticisers in Suzhou's surface water, as well as conduct an eco-toxicological assessment.
