Soft tissue modeling is a process of recovering 3D models and deformations of human soft tissues including internal organs, muscles, fat, blood vessels, etc. It is a critical technology for modern digital healthcare, particularly in the Virtual Surgery Simulation and the Medical Visualization. Significant research efforts have been dedicated to this area. Finite Element Method (FEM), Mass Spring Method (MSM), Position based Dynamics (PBD), and their modified methods have been introduced to simulate human soft tissues. A complete study of existing methods can offer students an overall understanding and arouse interest in this research area.
